Your windshield wiper is meant to push rain off your windshield. Not as a shovel to remove snow. Or ice. You should always clear off your windshield and free your wipers before cranking them on.

Even if you were in the warranty period, I'd be surprised if they covered it. The parts didn't fail, you did something you weren't supposed to do and broke it. Simple as that.
