I very much doubt you could talk BMW into offer this retrofit, since it is not an official retrofit.
I have recently done this retrofit myself, and though it requires a lot of recearch and preparation it is definitely a doable task.
I'm putting together sort of a Do-It-Yourself thread which I'll post in a couple of days.
I have only done the removal of the dash and installed the hardware myself, the coding I'll leave to the Pro's (the company from where I bought the Idrive Unit, forum sponsor and highly recommendable
)
