Thanks for the reply. I have been examining the car some more today and here are my findings:
The ECU components probe out similarly, with no real outliers.
I cleaned the vanos solenoids and reinstalled
I drove the car and found that the problem only exists in 3rd gear, and that I am able to accelerate to redline on 1st and 2nd with no trouble.
Anyone have similar experiences?
