All the cars are fast and the performance difference is pretty minimal on the road. The S3 has a manual gearbox compared to the 335d Auto. Therefore it will be much harder to get 'consistently' from 0 to 60 than the BMW.
Real world 30 to 70 is far more relevant and although the 335d has the kickdown and instant torque a manual car you have full control - primed in gear for an overtake for example and ready to go.
I am not knocking the 335d I have one I am just saying in real world acceleration there won't be much between any of these and the top trump stats don't always say the whole picture.
