some people got new turbos with the new wastegate rods, some like me, just got the wastegate rod fixed. The new wastegate rods are of thicker design. So far, they are holding up great and I got no death rattle.

BMW/Mitsu beefed up the wastegate actuator arms from 6mm to 8mm in the Fall of 2007.
