There was a recent roundtable in which they discuss the issue, and explained how to fix it, so there is a solution available. The problem is corrosion in the mirror wiring. The car remembers the mirror position based on resistance readings. When you get some corrosion, the readings through the wiring change, and the mirror gets moved to a different position because of it. The fix is to clean the connectors for the mirror wiring, and apply a special grease to the connectors. If it still happens, then you replace the mirror motor.

Oh I may check this out. I have had this problem with mine. Very intermittent, but annoying none the less.
