Most people just want a comfortable car that they can use as a daily driver, all they really want is a hint of sportness and not an all out sport car. There is really not much of a demand for a pure high performance cars anymore, that is one of the reason why most exotic car manufacturuers are bought up by bigger car companies. BMW knows this and in order to survive, they need to make cars that are more generic and please the general population.
