Road and Track did 3.9 0-60 in a stock 997S. The base 997 still does 0-60 in well under 5.0 in some reviews. I know 0-60 doesnt mean anything but just wanted to point that out.

I think the 997S is a great car. And as said before if you just want a really fast car for the straights then the 335 is fine. In reality you dont need much better handling than the 335 for everyday spirited driving. If you are a track guy than a used Pcar is the way to go.
