Nothing. Indeed they already have by the looks of things.

Driving up the A1 yesterday, I passed 3 Shell garages who were all charging 137.9 for diesel. Driving back this afternoon the same garages were all at 139.9 for diesel.

The problem I have with all of this though is that a few years ago, 80% of the cost of a liter of fuel was tax. Today that number of 60%

Out of the 20p per liter that fuel has risen in the last 12 months, most of that cost rise is NOT tax.

Yet we seem to be happy giving the government a hard time when it's the oil companies taking the pi$$
