That's probably the best way to describe them, you know they're always there but you can regulate how loud you want them to be, by the pressure on the pedal or the style of driving you're doing...

As far as the CEL light, just get the AA off-road tune or I think Evolve has a tune for the N52 and have them turn off the o2 sensors but keep the readiness monitors intact so that they will show ready for emission time...
Glad to hear that smell went away, do you still have the secondaries in place or did they remove them? I've found with my secondaries still intact that it helps significantly clean up the smell, even if it does rob me of a few hp
