Its only open at idle as soon as you touch the pedal the valve closes and stays close under boost, so no you are not losing any boost. Different bov operate differently on each cars. Like I said I have a bov kit and a boost gauge and I have not seen any boost lost because under boost the valves slams shut and stays shut, and mines is open at idle only.
