I initially thought it was a N54 block but the Alpina stats say the engine features Valvetronic, which was used in the N55 and not N54. The new B3 is also more efficient than the old B3 which clearly used the N54 block.

But regardless which block is used, cannot see the M3/4 having that much more power...so in 2-3 years time it could be a very good used buy!
