I recommend this technique. While you can drain most of the fluid through arduous means, sucking the reservoir dry, putting new fluid in, and repeating the process will accomplish most of the good with far less effort. I'd do it at 30-36,000 mile intervals. And if you're a purist, yes, draining every last drop out is better.
