Yes, I saw your post.
I dont have APPs in my car, but the one 2011 E90 model I know that has it cannot use it via the USB cable but it works via the video dock, which also allows video streaming.
Maybe the 2012 X5 from the video is different or it may be a Iphone software version thing
The APP software is supposed to have a self problem diagnose option which he can run and get a error code. The dealer can then look up the code and see what if any problem exists
