BMW upgraded their iDrive systems in 2009 (CIC) which allows for DVDs to be played using the in-dash DVD system. Unfortunately, we are greeted with a "For your safety, video is only available when parked" message and and blank screen.
SmartTV modules now have an optional CAN interception technology selection in order to allow retrofitted CIC systems to work without the need for coding sessions! Simply install and GO!
The smartTV module acts as a safety override so you can decide if you would like this option enabled or not, allowing full video while the vehicle is motion for passengers on those long trips.

Permissions
You can select for this smartTV features to be enabled/disabled through a simple command via the blinker stalk in case the vehicle is driven by someone other than you. An integrated mini USB port is also within the module board for those that wish to program via laptop.
