Carbon build up issue yes or no? YES

Additional Info:
For the first 105,000 KM no issues.
Then first SES appeared and BMW replaced injector # 4.
Picked up the D and after driving for 50 KM the SES returned.
Brought it back the next day and left it for 2+ weeks and BMW discovered carbon buildup and had the cylinder head walnut blasted to remove the carbon and also replaced the Intake Manifold.
Told by SA that problem fixed so picked up the D and again after 60 KM SES returned!
Took the D back this time I showed SA a print out I made from a forum post that showed that the DDE may be defective and may have to be replaced to fix the SES.
SA spoked to BMW and a PUMA case was opened and BMW agreed to try replacing the DDE.
The D was again left there for 3 weeks waiting for the DDE to be shipped from Germany.
Sure enough after the DDE was replaced no more dreaded SES and I've driven over 5,000 KM since then.

My D was out of warrany and I had to pay $3,900.00 for all the work while BMW cover the rest of the labour + parts.

I had a discussion with the SA and the shop Foreman who said I can expect to have to have carbon buildup cleaned in another 100,000 KM!
That is the nature of the Direct Injection engine!
