Infact its 17x8 et34 so it would retract 12mm and i think that makes a big difference especially ,because its goes deeper in the wheel housing. Also i have read/heard somewhere that all e9x Original BMW:s 17 inches will clear the 335 brakes, but aftermarket is hit or miss.
Tyre itself would be better in the snow, because its narrower.

I have 17x8 et 20 with 225/45/17 square setup on my pre-lci and going to add 10mm spacer to rear.Lci wont need the spacer ,because it has wider rear track.
