Please see the attached list of approved oils. Mobil 1 0W40 specifically with BMW LL01 designation is the only oil from Mobil 1 series. LL01 is for North America. NOT all of the Mobil 1 Synthetic series is approved. For M (Motorsport engines) it got different oil spec's. The Mobile 1 0W40 w/LL01 designation is deeply discounted at your local Wal-Mart in quarts & gallon jugs. This is of course, if you adhere to the infamous BMW CBS (Condition Based Service) oil service intervals. In my case, because of my extra low mileage I will only qualify for one oil change not until the year 2013 under CBS! The last one was done in Sept 2010. So for the entire 2011 & 2012 I don't get a CBS based oil service. I have driven 20K miles since Sept 2009. I do on my own engine oil changes at least once a year using Mobil 1 0W40 w/BMW LL01 and oem Hengst oil filters.
