I was going to say the same thing, but take a look at the price difference between some good spring/shock/strut combos versus coilovers. It's not a huge difference. Sure, it's overkill if you don't track and don't need the adjustability, but you don't exactly save a ton by going the cheaper route. I think I remember coilovers being easier to DIY as well, it's been a while.
