Been doing both for many years, but prefer track events just because of the time spent behind the wheel. I usually have to drive from 2 to 6 hours for an autocross or track event, so maximizing the driving time in the event means a lot also. Seems like I can only get around to one or two autocrosses a year as time runs short these days. I do spend beteen 20 and 30 days a year on the track though.

Autocross will definitely help you learn the car control techniques at a much safer speed. After you have spent a lot of time on the track and get used to the higher speeds, things actually feel slower on the autocross course although you are going much faster. I do miss the old days (back in the late 80"s) when we had autocrosses at the Lincoln Nebraska Airpark and I could hit over 100 MPH in my CRX. Then they had to kick us out for development space on the safer barrier.
