Been in Paris all week and don't find it much different at all for day to day expenses (food/water) and wine is certainly cheaper even after conversion. Can't speak for mortgages or cars but it is certainly odd to see so many shops closed up for a month for vacation. Can't imagine a store in Calgary shutting down for the month of August to take a holiday. I still think us Canadians have it pretty good but it is too bad our average work week seems to be closer to 60 hours than the 35-40 here and for many people vacations are few and far between compared to an entire month off.
