Having read a number of reviews on this problem it would appear that part could well be the culprit.

But is the part defective/not performing properly and needs replacing? or is it purely a noise side effect from design.

My car is still under warranty and presumably if BMW have modified this part to rectify a problem, I guess it should be covered.

If it turns out I am not covered are these parts easily sourced to be fitted by my trusted local dealer, not spoke to him yet but I'm sure he could source the part for me.
