DTM and Japanese Super GT (GT500 class) already have similar specs and that's the main reason why this series might come to fruition. It's up to the new ALMS/GRAND AM if they want to incorporate those standards into their series or if America manufactures what to develop cars to compete in this series.
The theory behind this new series is that the German and Japanese manufactures are already investing R&D into their respective series so having a team or two in a US series shouldn't cost much more.
Super excited for this and hope that it is fully realized.
