BMW set to return to Super Bowl XLV!

According to reports from AdAge, BMW is set to return to Super Bowl XLV after a 10 year advertising hiatus from the most watched event in the US calendar.

According to BMW marketing communications manager Stacy Morris, "We're in the window of our biggest launch period in history and the Super Bowl gives us the stage to make that big impact," the move makes perfect sense given the new X3, new 6-series, new 5-series and 1-Series M arriving on US shores.

BMW's last commercial was 10 years ago back in 2000. The ads were two 30-second spots for the then new BMW X5, estimated to cost $2.1M for those 30 seconds, or $70,000 per second.

BMWUSA has famously split with former ad agency GSD&M and now it seems MDC Partners' Kirshenbaum Bond Senecal & Partners are tapped to take over the advertising reigns for this campaign. Nothing is yet known about what the Ad would be, and I'm sure that is going to be one of their most closely guarded secrets for now. But you can expect EfficientDynamics to figure prominently into the ad(s), and possibly include the VED car itself.
