Washers were standard on 330 and above even with just halogens.
All xenon equipped cars have the sensors for vertical aim on the O/S/F and O/S/R suspension arms - adaptive also have the steering angle sensor.
Unless you have a friendly tester I'd say you'd fail an MOT nowadays without washers as it's fairly obvious for the tester to see.
