I have exactly the same problem. Anybody find a solution to this?
I have a Genuine BMW Y cable bought from the dealer, but when I connect it to the armrest and the iPhone I get nothing, just the Reading message then "Not Connected" or "Not Supported".
Can't think of why it isn't working as my friends phone works fine.
