335d base radio upgrade

Hi All,
I just purchased a new 2011 335d. It is a base model in crimson red. It has no options. The only two options I was interested in the split folding seat, and the Harmon Kardon stereo. The base model was the closest match to what I could afford, and I love the color.

I guess there is no practical way to change the seat, so I'll have to live with it?

I listen to my iPod most of the time when driving my current car, and the base model is not compatible with the BMW iPod USB adapter.

I found an adapter that is compatible with the base radio for $545, but that is too much money to spend just to attach my iPod to my base radio.

I called a BMW parts store online, the Harmon Kardon system, an $875 option, costs over $3,000 for the parts alone. The Harmon Kardon head unit is $1,000.

I would also like to upgrade the sound system, and have satellite radio.
To upgrade the sound system I have decided to go with BSW (Bavarian SoundWerks), but I still have the problem of how to get satellite radio & my iPod to connect with the base radio.

BSW is compatible with BMW radio only, but upgrading my BMW radio seems impracticable. The cost is prohibitive. $1,000 for the head unit, another $400, or so for the BMW iPod USB adapter. Plus, the cost of the speaker upgrade from BSW.

Does anybody have any suggestions, I’m thinking of just wearing my headphones when I drive. It’s just crazy that they don’t put a mini-jack input in the base radio, so you can hook up any mp3 player to it, or for that matter it should accept a micro-SD card. None of those technologies are new, or expensive.
