WTF. 14K miles and the tires are "coned"

I did a lease assumption just over a month ago on an '07 335 E90. it had 12K miles on it and was in pristine condition, the seller was an older businessman.

as of about 2-3 weeks ago, I've noticed a rotational noise coming primarily from the front of the car at low speeds (under 30MPH). It sounded almost like a warped rotor.

So today I took the car in to get serviced, oil change, and mentioned the noise.

Just got a call from the service department, and the service guy tells me that the issue i s that my tires are coned, all four are worn heavily on the edges. there is still a decent amount of tread in the center.

He said that these tires typically last 20-24K miles (Sport Package 18") and that I should look to replace them fairly soon (currently @ 14.7K miles)

I'm not a happy camper right now.

Thoughts?
