'89 325i steering wheel locked, can't unlock it. Please help with ideas.
I've got the full service manual and it says there is a hole above the ignition switch to stick something in, and it will unlock the wheel. The only problem is that I can't get the top housing off to expose the unlock switch?
I unscrewed the nut holding the steering wheel, but no matter how hard I pull the steering wheel won't budge. The manual indicates you have to center the wheel, and put the key in the ignition and turn it to the 1 position to get the wheel off. So, Catch 22 situation.
Someone suggested putting the foot on the brake and trying to unlock it. I'm going to try that.
