For our "break in" oil change i did some research about "other than BMW" oils. not allot out there that is LL-04 compliant. 0w-30 by Castrol Syntec is LL-01 and that is what is used in 330i engines. dont really see to much differance other than additive levels from -01 to -04. -04 has less additives.

I read that LL-04 is meant for turbo diesel engines in Europe but can be used on gas engines as well.
