I have a 2011 E92 with base stereo and navigation/bluetooth. After reading this entire thread I see that the solution is to follow the instructions about the wires being mislabled. Does the head unit need recoding or not? I am planning on installing this myself this weekend.

6/19 update

I completed the install in a little more than 3 hours. I think it sounds fine. I don't think coding is necessary. I went to my dealer and they want to charge $275 (1.5hours labor) to do it. You can't make a mistake installing this yourself. The connectors only go one way so you can mess up the crossover harness wiring.
