but - what does "American car" mean anymore? Hyundai claims half their cars sold in the US are made in the US. I'm sure Ford/GM/Chrysler use a ton of foreign sourced parts in every vehicle assembled in the US. All car companies are so internationally intertwined, that Hyundai may be more "American" than a Ford.
hyundai probably is more american then ford

the whole ecoboost and duratec lineup was designed by Mazda. same goes for a good chunk of ford/lincoln chassis (cd3,cd4)
