I doubt cdv delete makes any difference to shift quality.

You'll control clutch better with no delays, and shift faster, but that should be it.

My gut feeling is, 1->2 shift's problem is related to reverse gear somehow, since the gearbox has to prevent rear's engagement while moving forward.
