The 335 is not a replacement for anything-it is an add on.
For the 08 model year (2007), there are rumours - which may well prove true; of an engine power upgrade for the 325 and 330. Those rumours have it that in so doing the 325 may change its designation to 328, but the 330 will keep its designation. But this is just a rumour because I bet that BMW AG has not yet decided on this.

There have been NO such confirmations concerning US 2007 models.
It may be as you say... but there's nothing set in stone. And there have been reports of people seeing fully badged 328i coupes. So, it may not "just be a rumor" after all.
