It's a phenomenal tv, absolutely love it and no regrets whatsoever. I realize I could have taken a "lesser" brand or even rear projection for less money and gotten something bigger, but this is just perfect and the picture quality cannot be beat.
However the first unit I bought had a banding problem, I did some research and it turns out to be a problem normally isolated to the 46" and larger Aquos units, so I was just plain unlucky. Swapped it for another set and this one is fine.
There is a free utility that you can download as an image and burn to dvd called TVblink; a few of the included tests let you test whether your panel has any flaws, while the rest and majority of the tests let you determine if that model of tv is any good to begin with (for you to use at the store).
