probably not a good idea. if you seal it the air gap inside will not have room to breath and will expand to the point where it will 'crack' the paint.

it should have 'small' breather holes on the bottom and the lowest point and leave some of the mounting (glue) gapped on the rear to let the water drain away if it does get in.

as for removing it....nothing a little fine fishing line & elbow grease wouldn't take care of.
