I have had my car fall before. I was within two minutes of sticking my head underneath before it fell. Because of that, I refuse to get under my car unless it is on a lift.
Reason it fell was because the body seam blends in perfectly to the rear quarter panel seam. I didn't want to lift my car too close to the center, so I went 1.5" off from the lift points and that was a big no-no. The damage was minimal. It was an MK3 MR2 and the rear qp's unbolt, so I could have fixed it really easily.
