If you do the split armrest install, what happens to your built-in iPod case if you have 6FL? Can the split armrest be ordered with a case already integrated? Can the existing iPod case be transferred over? I wouldn't want to loose this functionality.
I saw a new M3 coupe this past weekend at a local BMW dealership. It had the split armrest from the factory. I believe it also had 6FL. Unfortunately, the car was behind ropes so I could not investigate.

Open the holder and the back you see is just a fold up. Under this is three torx screws. Measure and screw in to armrest.
