I'm not sure what the sales tax is in Toronto (13%?) or what the trade-in offer is, so I'm just throwing out numbers. If your trade-in value is $30k and there is a 13% sales tax, that's a difference of $3,900. Your private sale would need to be THAT much more than your trade-in value to be worth selling privately.
