I hate to break it to ya, but it doesn't matter if the cop is there or not. Unless of course you were rude to him, or if it was a rather severe charge. In NJ there is a cumulative charge known as "unsafe driving". This charge gives you no points and a mildly hefty fine. However, you can only get 3 within 5 years. Should you accumulate 3 of them, on that third time you will recieve 4 points. I'm a NJ traffic court expert. First call the court and enter a not guilty plea, they will send you a new court date. Then show up to court about an hour early and tell the prosecutor you'd like to ammend your speeding to your first unsafe driving charge. This will not effect your insurance or license.
