Yep, you select new destination... then choose information... on current location (or on destination if you're planning ahead). Then when you are in Map View the icon with the lowercase i toggles POI locators on and off on the map. Kinda have to jump through hoops to get that but it's the quickest way I know... maybe someone else knows a quicker shorctut...
