Assuming that it is the same as the recall work I had on my 08MY 335D Touring a few weeks ago, the problem related to the wiring loom at the back of the centre console.
Pin 18 (I think it is 18) is wired when it shouldn't be. This can result in the pin going live which in turn can cause the brake lights or headlights to illuminate on their own.
The fix is to remove the wire from this pin.
This could I suppose lead to a flat battery as stated earlier so sounds like it might be the same thing.
