if it costs that much to retrofit factory equipment then you're better off going the aftermarket route.

Im in the process/mindset of swapping in a Pioneer AVHP4300 DVD reciever
way more features than the OEM equipement and i'm assuming you don't have idrive (which i dont) i paid just under 600 US dollars for all the parts and i plan on installing them myself. I just havent gotten around to installing it. I have the radio headunit and miscelanous parts sitting in my room

PS. this is the best route if youre factory equipped with HIFI stereo

if you have Logic 7 you need to get a new amplifier because of something about fiberoptic connections being somewhere.

You have to read up on it a lot too do your research
