But if I try to place a call (either phone book or dialing) the call stays on the handset and does not transfer to the car speakers or microphone. I then must go into the menu and transfer the call to the car...sorta defeating the purpose of hands-free.

So, it works except when placing calls. Has any one solved this riddle? Sprint is clueless and I gave up calling India to talk to Motorola. I'm about to send the phone back. (And don't get me started on the endless phone transfers I encountered with motorola).

Thanks.

Based on your description of the problem, the answer is quite clear: the device is not compatible with the car.
