Maintenance is oil changes, brake pads, rotors, brake fluid flush, coolant flush, wiper blades etc. Things that are wear and tear items which are usually inxpensive and often easy DIY.
Warranty is completely different. It is to replace things that are not expected to require replacing. Warranty covers both Parts & Labor.
I also purchased the 7/100K plantinum extended warranty when we got the car (just put it into the payments, almost transparent). The reason for the platinum is because it covers all that in car electronics (not just the drive train) that is very expensive to repair/replace. I did not get extended maintenance. I'll do all that myself when the free maintenance is up.
