Too much claear coat will gives you "shiny " grill.
Actually, I painted first time and it had chips all over.
So, I repaint it for 6coat with black and 5coat with clear.
Also used hair dryer to make the paint goes for long.
But!!! It was just same. It will pills off anyways...
What I suggest to do is using clear scotch packing tape (or 3M, etc, etc...)
over the grills. There is more expensive protect film but they work just same.
