Going to a bigger compressor would add some extra airflow but the gains didnt seem worth it to us. We just finished our Ford Ecoboost upgraded turbo prototypes and one is forward and one is reverse (like the N55) for the V6 and we went stage 1 on those because the stock turbine wheels were sized very nicely and the compressor wheels were very small. This is an indicator that a stage 1 type upgrade will net quite a good bit of HP. Hope that helps explain why we went this direction first.
You chose to skip stage 1, which you refer to as just a compressor upgrade. Did you dyno the upgrade and see small gains, or did you assume it wouldn't be worth it because the turbine size was just as much of an issue.
