A reputable socal shop quoted me $1400 for labor to replace both turbos. They said this is about 15 hours of work.

The turbos are $695 each so the total comes out to $2790. This is roughly the same as the gold extended warranty.

But the problem is lately, it seems so damn hard to get the dealers to approve anything like warranty fixes after 50k miles. If my turbos are shot or wastegates are going, atleast i'll know my money will be spent on fixing the problem. While BMW may just hold your money hostage while trying to deny you of legitimate repairs.

Most people dont wait until it actually fails to fix it. If there are symptoms, i think most people would want the problem fixed than continue driving until BMW deems it is so bad it will leave you stranded.
