I had my main left rear running lamp burn out yestreday (the middle portion with horizonal stripes). Interstingly if it burns out, the car automatically lights up the lower section of the light. Upon replacing the proper bulb the light functioned again as normal.
All functions including braking, signalling, etc. worked perfectly even with a burned out bulb.
This is an extremely nice feature. Even if your bulb burns out the car is smart enough to provide a temporary fix to avoid a ticket!
