Do you have any vids showing the car running normally before the accident? Was it drivable when it was brought into the body shop? You may need to show that the engine was fine before the accident but after it made this noise. Then it will be between your insurance co and the shop to fight over how it was broken, during the accident or during the repair.
One thought is that if the old oil cooler was bent in the accident it might have restricted the flow long enough to cause sufficient oil starvation. Just a guess.
